Impact by Degrees°
Embassy of Australia, Washington
In the increasingly open environment of international relations, people-to-people exchanges provide a platform for unofficial partnerships to be forged along lines of cultural understanding. Such engagements lead to a greater respect amongst peoples and serve to improve mutual understanding of diverse value systems.
The Impact by Degrees° exhibition was a key public diplomacy event presented by the Embassy of Australia in Washington in the lead up to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, Conference of the Parties COP15 in Copenhagen in 2009. It showed cultural responses to one of the most urgent challenges to confront humanity: climate change.
It displayed imaginative artworks: from projects highlighting environmental and social sustainability challenges caused by climate change and growing security issues to the importance of innovation at the local level.
Impact by Degrees° served as a reminder of the interdependence of our biophysical, social and electronic habitats.
